Posting this so my goldfish don’t get jealous that I keep posting pictures of my dog. They’re call Bob, Bob, Thelma and Louise. And I stare at them for long periods of time when I should be writing.
FRIDAY BARNES 10, UNDERCOVER - COVER REVEAL! Thank you @lillypiri for your beautiful illustration and @kirbyarmstrong for your inspired design. You’ve created another stunning cover. Well done! And shout out to Edvard Munch for inspiring Friday’s pose. Not long now until this exciting crime novel hits bookstores - 1 Feb 2022. If you’re wondering what’s in it - it’s set in Norway - so think crime, polar bears, the aurora borealis, a snowmobile chase and waffles with brown cheese. It’s going to be totally awesome.
I’ve been doing the podcast for 87 episodes now! And being a terrible capitalist I hadn’t really done anything to “monetise”. But I do put a lot of work in - so 2 days ago I launched a donation page at buymeacoffee.com/storiesraspratt for fans of the show. I was kind of expecting nothing to happen. But it’s worked! People are buying me coffee! Here’s me getting my first cup from a listener. I’m am so happy, humbled and grateful. I knew thousands of people were listening but it didn’t feel real. This feels real. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the show. I will feel like less of a weirdo sitting in my office loudly doing all the silly voices now. Xoxo
NANNY PIGGINS AND THE WICKED PLAN is going to be an audiobook! I’m heading in to the studio to record it in early November. I’m so excited. I’ve been reminiscing about all the cool and crazy things in this book. I wrote it just after my 14-year-old was born. Also looking at this US illustrated edition reminds me how lucky I was to have @dsantat illustrate scenes from my mind. When I imagined Nanny Piggins and a Gypsy Queen in a fight to the death with sticks over a pit of fire - it looked really cool in my head. But Dan‘s illustration is so much more - it’s awesome, exciting, funny and beautiful. (NB. The audiobook will not be illustrated. Well… it will be - but you have to imagine the images with your own mind. That’s how audiobooks work)
