Obviously writing books is not a competition, but as some who has won very few competitions in life, I’m just going to leave this here... Supporting my family as a writer has not always been easy. I’m a bit emotional about this today and I don’t have the right words, so I’m going to quote the dedication I wrote for Friday Barnes 4. “Every time you buy a book you support the arts, specifically the artist who wrote it (in this case me), for which I am extremely grateful.” It means even more knowing that so many of those books were bought by kids with their own pocket money. Thank you all so much. Eugh... I’ve just made myself cry. I’d better stop writing.

I’m lucky I have an in house co-editor in my target demographic. Bedtime stories double up as professional development. #multitaskingmummy

I got to tell stories to 2000 kids again today at Sydney Town Hall. I am well aware that this is a privilege the like of which I may never again be afforded. Thank you so much to everyone at @sydwritersfest and @puffinbooksaus who made this happen. Thank you to MC @deborah_abela_ . Thank you to the army of yellow volunteers. And an extra especially big thank you to the kids and their teachers for being the best audience in the world. Today was one of the great highlights of my life.
